Spanish curators have identified what they think is the earliest copy of Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa, painted in the artist's own studio and looking younger and more ravishing than the original.

It is a fine version. I think a US museum also owns a copy, though a bit later than this one. The execution of the eye and brow is striking in this copy, it shows that whoever painted it was also somewhat of a master. Of Leo's pupils, the most accomplished are Giovanni Boltraffio, Bernardino Luini and Giampietrino. I wonder if they will ever authenticate or attribute it to one of these pupils/followers. Nice!

I find that both painting are beautiful, and somehow find I'm even more intrigued by the woman as she has aged. She is still beautiful. Do you find this valuable?

Come on, Sue, not old, but older, and we like you just the way you are. Do you find this valuable?

LOL ... thanks Andrew ! I am old, and going to be a whole lot older in about 10 days. lol But is all honesty, I really do prefer the older (Leonardo) painting more ... even though it is great to see the interpretation of The Mona Lisa by others.

Oh, Sue, you've got far too much life and dynamism in you to ever be class as being old, and I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees the older one that way.
