Melia Kreiling as Bianca Gonzaga in Season 2

http://www.castingcallpro.com/uk/view.php?uid=314325So, it seems that we are going to see the Gonzaga family. Maybe Barbara Flynn's Isabella is Francesco Gonzaga's wife then, Isabella D'Este. Notice that none of the Gonzaga children were named Bianca but perhaps she is based on Eleonora, the eldest daughter who later on was associated with the Della Rovere family and Pope Julius II. The same site mentions that actress Sarah Finigan has been cast in the illustrious role of "Beggar Woman". 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

I always wonder why the writers need to make up characters? It must fulfill a need for plot simplicity. I guess I can handle it, but Isabella d'Este wasn't that heavily involved in Borgia politics, just in the roles of Borgia appeasment and defense of Mantua, despite her husband's anti-Borgia outbursts.Leonora Gonzaga was born in 1493, so it would have to be either Francesco's lovely wife Isabella or his good sister Elisabetta, who married Cesare's almost-victim - duke Guidobaldo da Montefeltro of Urbino. Thank you, Brooke 9/7, interesting input. I agree that when history is already interesting writers need not make up storylines, (which are rarely more interesting) though I guess we will have to wait and see.

Taking a look at the photo of Melia Kreiling, and checking out Eleonora, Isabella, and Elisabetta, I would say if Bianca Gonzaga is based on any of them, then the obvious candidate would have to be Elisabetta. The other two are either too young or not born yet, whereas Elisabetta looks to be of about the right age for Melia Kreiling.

Another fictional character. I don't know what to say. As Urquheart mentioned, made up stories are rarely more intriguing than the actual ones. I feel like I'm watching a fictional story, at the end of the day, you know?

Never understood why they make up characters along the way. Gonzaga apart from his military interests was also a well known ladies man as he died of syphilis from too many of them. Melia Kreiling is beautiful so there will probably be sex involved and i hope it is more intiguing than what they've shown so far. Televising history is like telling a true story to a 3rd person- facts get twisted and memories serve to the best interest of an exciting story apparently.

The actress has said on her twitter that she spent more time than she anticipated on the show and also shared a one-on-one scene with the show's lead star (I hope she means Jeremy Irons). Interesting...

Interesting..."I was checking out her twitter site and she said: "In budapest once again... Filming a little more than anticipated for The Borgias ;)" .... so I am wondering if the little wink means more time or, if it means more nudity. Time will tell ! BTW, I totally agree with all of you on the "character" issue ... the real history is so much more compelling and I don't think it is necessary to make people up. So many movies and tv historical dramas make up characters ... WHY??? I will never understand this all too common practice. The fact that these shows are so popular should tell the writers and producers that we like REAL history. Obviously, they have never heard the expression "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." I mean, we have all been writing about things that we hope to see in the show that are real history, and they are things that would be great drama ... there is no lack of subject matter ... so why make up stuff or people??? When they do, I feel that it takes away from the show. To make my point, the least interesting character of season1 was Ursula ... in my opinion, the time put into making up characters is actually time wasted. OK ... rant over! :) Do you find this valuable? |

I'm excited to see melia Kreiling in season 2! Do you find this valuable? |

The new season 2 characters look interesting. I've posted a new thread, Who should play Giovanni Borgia in season 2? I'd appreciate your comments and thoughts. Thank you!

"is this the woman who Alexander appears to be bathing in the trailer when Guilia finds them?"It is a safe guess, KittiDes, that she might be the girl Rodrigo's bathing in the trailer. I wonder what is her relationship with Fransesco Gonzaga (seen later in the trailer), who somewhat unwillingly promises to return all spoils of battle to the Church in return for God's blessing. Could he be her husband or her father? I don't suppose history can be of any help here, since a Bianca Gonzaga never existed. Do you find this valuable? |

To be honest, I think that as long as she doesn't have too much plot importance--which she shouldn't if she's a one and you're done job for Rodrigo--it's fine to add in a little fictional character. I'd rather her be a fictional person distantly connected to those of actual importance--the Gonzagas--than someone like Ursula. A fictional Gonzaga might make it easier to introduce the real Gonzagas to those who don't know the history.I can't wait until they introduce Isabella d'Este, though. She was known to have a fierce rivalry with Lucrezia. (Not at all surprising, as Lucrezia did sleep with her husband...) I do wonder sometimes how much screentime Lucrezia's life with her third husband will receive, as she did outlive the only other "notable" Borgias--Alexander and Cesare--by quite a bit of time. Her affairs with Bembo and Gonzaga were interesting, but Bradford lists them as being almost reactionary to her life falling apart (the loss of a child followed by Cesare's death) for a time, which would mean that by then she would be on her own. As much as I adore her, I think that the show wouldn't be much if Lucrezia didn't have fellow Borgias to play off. And as the series has emphasized her relationship with Cesare as being--in my opinion--almost a subset to the actual family (I think that they care about one another far more than any other family members, particularly as they grow up) that it would be nice to end with that final relationship being severed by death. I don't know. The family's so Shakespearean to me, I'm excited about what will happen as their future grows darker. Do you find this valuable? |
