After watching the trailer and checking out a couple of stills, I realized that the show was definitely playing with--at the least--the Cesare/Lucrezia incest. As a minor history buff, I seriously doubt that this happened in real life; at the most, Cesare was extremely devoted to his sister, but there was nothing physical going on and if he did have feelings, Lucrezia didn't reciprocate them. That said, Francois and Holliday seem to have great chemistry and I'm... intrigued to see where the show takes it. So I came up with a theory or two:

* I'm going to go ahead and say that I do not think that the incest will be blatant super sexual, at least not at first. Undertones. More of a "whoooooa they're siblings?" kind of thing. I think that it would be interesting if the writers portrayed it as an emotional connection sort of thing gone too far. Cesare and Lucrezia grow up as the only people they can trust, protecting each other from harm. In their terrible world, with the kind of father they had--Rodrigo was a monster turning his children into monsters. It wouldn't be that far a jump to assume that their originally pure relationship gets twisted because of this. Cesare seems closer to Lucrezia in the promo than the woma he's supposed to romance. What if this morphed further?

* A lot of people have complained that Cesare seems too soft. Remember season 1 Henry, all naive and romantic? I believe that the show will track Cesare's descent from a lovelorn young man, a faithful son and brother, to a scheming, manipulative man as bad as his father and obsessed with his sister (which is what he was in real life). If The Tudors is any indication, we could watch everything good in him become twisted by Rodrigo into something impure. Again, the implications of the Cesare/Lucrezia relationship come into play. I predict that he will abandon this woman from the promos--especially since she is fictional
